I have been a home owner since 1973. Having friends in the construction business, I over many years, learned how to do many repairs and home upgrades, including; window and door replacement, vinyl siding and roof replacement, hardwood floor refinishing, wood floor and ceramic tile replacement. After making two trips through the house, I thought that I knew enough to do my own inspection. For legal and contractual concerns, I was encouraged to hire a Certified Inspector. On the recommendation of our realtor, we hired Scott Stevens to do the inspection. On the inspection day, I was immediately impressed with Mr. Stevens inspection abilities. He was flying drone aircraft with a high pixel camera over the home, inspecting the chimneys, roof and flashing. He found three somewhat concerning problems with the chimneys and roof flashing. I would have never seen these problems from the ground. Other exterior concerns noted were an electric junction box ground, loose garage door trim, needed calking and paint. In the home’s interior he found problems with the oven fan, hairline cracks in ceramic tile and transom window, and wine cooler. He inspected; every electric outlet and switch, window (raising and lowering each) , appliance, and basement pump. The heat pumps with gas backup were all turned on and inspected, as well as the attic (for water leaks and air handler operation). Every sink, lavatory, shower and bathtub and faucets were turned on to check for pressure, leaks, and drainage. All accessible water pipes from the main shutoff to ever water outlet were checked. I am so glad our realtor suggested Mr. Stevens. He was so very thorough and professional . He even spent the time to suggest areas of home maintenance for which I should be mindful. Great guy, very thorough and patient with a first time buyer. Competitive pricing, and didn’t charge for an (apparently) unnecessary well inspection.
